March 16,1946 – April 14, 2020
If you’ve been around MCC and General Conferences for many years, you will remember the smiling face of Rev. Katie Cassidy. She retired from active ministry in April 2010 due to health reasons so has not attended Conference since that time.
Katie was born in Providence, Rhode Island, USA and left this world after a long respiratory illness while living in Snowflake, Arizona, USA. She left behind her spouse Carol Palin and many friends.
Katie was initially licensed as Clergy by UFMCC in August 1979 then ordained at the General Conference on July 25, 1987. She was the Founding Pastor of Oasis MCC, Phoenix Arizona, USA (October 7, 1979) and served that church for many years until its closing in 1995. During her tenure at Oasis MCC she also studied and became a licensed LPN. Beginning in 1992, she served as an AIDS Chaplain in the Agape Network. She visited homes and hospitals to provide comfort, care, prayer and communion. Later her nursing care included very ill pediatric patients.
From 1998-2010, Rev. Katie Cassidy was an active member of Gentle Shepherd MCC in Phoenix, Arizona, USA where she served as volunteer clergy. After developing health issues and retiring in 2010, she made new friends at Church of Our Savior in Lakeside, Arizona, USA where she attended until her health further prevented her from travel.
Due to COVID-19, no services were held for Katie. To send special memories, private condolences or sign the online guest book, visit the website at www.owenslivingstonmortuary .
