Metropolitan Community Churches is excited to announce that Rev. Cathy Alexander has been hired as the new Vocational Leadership Co-ordinator for MCC worldwide. This position is part of a new staffing structure in MCC, which will enable MCC to respond effectively to our global ministry in the 21st century.
After a robust search and interviewing process, the Senior Leadership of MCC (Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston, Moderator; Rev. Dr. Kharma Amos, Team Lead for Resource Development; and Rev. Elder Hector Gutierrez, Team Lead for Community Development) unanimously agree that Rev. Cathy Alexander is the best applicant to fill this position. We are excited about her vision, her passion, and her commitment for this work.
MCC’s new Vocational Leadership Co-ordinator, Rev. Cathy Alexander, is part of the Community Development Team led by Rev. Elder Hector Gutierrez.

When asked “why this and why now”, Cathy responded, “times of transition encourage us to be in the complexity and tension of holding joy and sorrow, anticipation and grief, the ‘what was and what could possibly be’. I’m humbled and excited to be connected with the denomination in this way and look forward to the things we can accomplish together.”
Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston, MCC Moderator, says “Rev. Cathy Alexander is a highly respected and very experienced leader within MCC. I am delighted to welcome her to the MCC staff team. I know that she will contribute a huge amount, not only in her particular role, but also working collaboratively with her colleagues.”
“It is a great pleasure to receive Rev. Cathy Alexander in the Community Development Team,” said Rev. Elder Hector Gutierrez, “and have this opportunity to work more closely with Cathy in the service to our MCC clergy and lay leaders. We will do our best to continue supporting and resourcing those who are exploring and living out a call to vocational ministry, both laity and clergy, those in pastoral and other ministries, as well as those who are retired.”
