We are seeking someone who takes great joy in using music to create vibrant worship that encourages and
challenges us and promotes spiritual growth; someone who leads worship from a place of authenticity and
deep faith in God; a leader who loves to empower others and build music ministries that heal and inspire. Our
ideal candidate will also have excellent organizational skills, as well as a passion for working as part of a team
with both lay people and church staff as a servant leader.
This position is part-time at 20 hours per week. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities will include working closely with the Senior Pastor and Worship Team to create weekly worship
experiences that are relevant, engaging, high quality and inspirational; leading weekly worship services at
10:30 am on Sundays and special services/musical events as planned; leading, rehearsing and growing our current
ensembles (Sanctuary Choir, Fully Alive Band, keyboard instrumentalists) and expanding the number and
range of music ministries at MCCPB; oversight of annual Jubilant Song Concert Series; attending weekly staff
meetings; oversight of Facebook live streaming procedures and all audio/media equipment (including EZ Worship
and Switcher Studio); developing relationships with and coordinating performances by guest artists from
the community; oversight of required licenses for performances.
Qualifications: the ideal candidate will possess a degree in music, with three to five years of experience in
church music leadership. Excellent piano, organ and vocal skills in a broad range of both sacred and secular music
styles are essential. An understanding of MCC culture, history and worship styles and music is preferred, and
comfort with progressive theology and inclusive language is very important. Our new Minister of Music will
have a warm personality, an open heart, a love for people and a strong ability to nurture and empower others
through the gift of music.
