Pastor Alexya Salvador among Theologians and Activists in Machismo Article
by Linda Brenner, MCC Communications

ICM Pastor Alexya Salvador is among the prominent women writer Angelica Tostes showcases in her article in CartaCapital. These ten theologians and activists have contributed to the public discourse on religious politics which challenges the patriarchal theology of Brazil.

Tastes opens the article with the following statement:

“What these women do is prophecy. Denouncing the violence is prophetic and ‘we cannot let the prophecy fall’.”

Pastor Salvador’s bio includes the following:

“…Pastor Alexya is a trans woman, 38, married, mother and struggles daily to build a church that gives voice, time and place to women’s altar, since historically, it was men who told the story of Christianity.”

Pastor Alexya Salvador is one of nearly a dozen global leaders selected to receive a Be a Gem Scholarship which assists with costs to attend MCC’s triennial General Conference this year. Support Pastor Salvador and other scholarship candidates at this link: http://bit.ly/gem-donation
