Becoming More Innovative Leaders
18 October 2016
In this 21st century context, we can no longer rely on how things “have always been done,” nor can we simply imitate what others are doing to live more fully into our mission.
Now, more than ever, we, as leaders of all kinds, need to be creative risk-takers, connected and learning together, deeply grounded in our faith, willing to listen and follow where the Spirit leads as we join in working with God in the world.
Earlier this year, we had rich dialog in a series of conversations to Imagine Revitalization. Building on those discussions, the Office of Church Life and Health and the Office of Formation and Leadership Development are working together to offer a series of conversations in the coming months on Becoming More Innovative Leaders.
Each session will include a mix of presentation, large and small group discussion, and individual reflection. They will invite us into a communal experience of education, assessment, application, and the development of some plans for supporting our work, both individually and collectively, as we move forward.
As we deeply listen to one another and the Spirit, we will hear wisdom that we can apply as individual leaders in our own growth and development and as congregations and other ministry contexts hungering for fresh approaches to embody and share God’s inclusive love and justice.
So, if you are a leader of any kind of ministry within MCC and are willing to be open to the Spirit and to others in conversation about, as one of our earlier conversation participants said, “Trying new things and being bold enough to do so,” please join us.
Conversations will be held on four consecutive
Tuesdays from 18 October through 8 November
7:00 – 8:30 pm US Eastern Time (UTC -4 hours)
