A CALL TO PRAYER
Across the world, MCCers experience moments that shock and strike at the core of their nation. Many of us have experienced terrorist attacks, civil unrest and natural disasters. All of us are impacted by the corona virus pandemic.
Today, in the heart of American democracy, we are witnessing unbelievable scenes as the Capitol building is besieged by those who want to stop the democratic process, through violence and fear. It is so hard to watch, because we know that this is not what the overwhelming majority of US citizens want for themselves, or for their country. We know that this action has been precipitated because of leadership which has failed to act with integrity and respect for the will of the people in the democratic process.
We know that good, truth and justice will prevail, even in the face of such chaos and disregard for life.
Join with me in prayer at this time.
God of all nations, we ask for the power of your Holy Spirit to bring forth courage, justice and peace in this turbulent situation. Around the world, we hold the USA in prayer, especially our MCC congregations. We pray that they may shine as a beacon of hope and stability in their communities. We ask for a swift and calm end to this crisis, for a smooth transition of power and a new time of peace, justice and unity. In Jesus’s name we pray Amen.
MCC STAFF AVAILABLE FOR SUPPORT
This is a reminder that your MCC staff are available to be of support to you. Many are pastors themselves and are more than willing to provide pastoral support to our pastors, chaplains and lay leaders.
TIME OF PRAYER – NEW LOCATION
EACH THURSDAY 5pm EST / 10pm GMT
Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston was already scheduled to hold her Time of Reflection and Prayer this Thursday. Given the recent events in the USA, this might be an excellent time to join her!
