This page was created for all members of the Marriage Equality Movement, and their supporters.

Whether you are an MCC member or a member of another church, if you are religious or not religious, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or straight-- if you support marriage equality, you are our ally.

MCC began its struggle for marriage equality over 35 years ago, through the ministry of Rev. Troy Perry. In 1970, he filed the first lawsuit for same-sex marriage recognition. Today, he is the most experienced marriage equality activist and a true pioneer of GLBT civil rights. His and MCC’s commitment to equality is rooted in years of battles continued even after defeat. MCC has 43,000 GLBT Christian members in 300 congregations worldwide.

Why is it important that MCC lead this battle?

The GLBT Community is under attack from religious conservatives who want to deny us civil rights and privileges based on our sexuality.

MCC responds to this by being the positive Christian countervoice that will say "No! Equality for everyone!"
No matter what someone’s religion or sexuality is, we all deserve rights guaranteed by our Constitution.

We live in a time of hypocrisy. A time when we purport the value that church and state should be

separated-- yet laws are being enforced based on right-wing religious beliefs.

A time when we extend the same rights to all Americans, regardless of ethnicity, age or sex-- but not sexuality.

There was once too a time when women and people of color did not have a say in the law. This is truly the last frontier: a voice in the law for gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people.
