Dear Friend:

Your help is urgently need today!

House Majority Leader Tom Delay (R-Texas) now says that he will bring the proposed "Federal Marriage Amendment" (FMA) to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote tomorrow -- Thursday, September 30.

It is urgent that all people of faith contact members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Let them know you oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment. Ask them to vote against the Amendment -- and to take a stand against discrimination. Let them know you are calling as a person of faith.

Whether your Congressperson is voting for or against the amendment -- it is vital that they hear your views. Every congressional office carefully tracks incoming messages -- and your call can make a difference in the next 24 hours.

3 Ways to Contact Your Representative:

1) Visit the NGLTF's website at http://ga4.org/campaign/stopthefma. You can send an e-mail directly to your congressperson from this website.

2) Call the U.S. House Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

3) Visit the U.S. House Website: www.house.gov

The message is simple: "I am a constituent and a faith leader in your community and I want my Congressperson to know that I oppose writing discrimination into the U.S. Constitution through the Federal Marriage Amendment.  I encourage him/her to vote against the amendment on Thursday."

Also, if you happen to know of colleagues in the following two districts, please forward them this message as we identified these two members today as among those who could use some extra calls:

+ Congressman Jim Cooper (Tennessee's 5th District, which includes Nashville)

+ Jennifer Dunn, (Washington's 8th district, including most of eastern King County)

Please forward this message to your friends and lists.
