Rev. Dr. Edgard Danielsen-Morales

Rev. Dr. Edgard Danielsen-Morales is currently the Associate Pastor at MCC New York.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Edgard’s spiritual journey began in the Baptist and Charismatic traditions. Because of his sexual orientation, his church stripped him of his lay ministry, and any future possibility to enter in the ordination process.

Edgard’s journey brought him to Reencuentro, the first theological reflection group for and by glbt people in Puerto Rico, and to the National Ecumenical Movement of Puerto Rico.  The experience with these two organizations opened his eyes to the ecumenical and interfaith world, its challenges and promise.

In 1996 Edgard found his spiritual home in MCC where he reclaimed his call to the pastoral ministry. He was ordained in 2002 and began his pastoral work at ICM Cristo Sanador.  After been called by MCC NY in 2004, he left behind his home church, and his position as a tenured Professor of Chemistry at the University, and moved to NYC where he lives with William, his partner of 16 years.

Edgard´s work in the wider community of MCC is in the areas of preaching, and education and training of clergy candidates and laity.  He has passion for Latin America that shows through his commitment to leadership development in our churches in Latin America.
