Dear MCC Friend:
Another Jubilee is upon us! The global church of
Metropolitan Community Churches will gather in Scottsdale, Arizona,
USA in just a few months!
If you have never attended a General Conference
then you are in for a special treat. If you have, you know what a
blessing these gatherings can be.
From my perspective as clergy with MCC for 25
years and the former Director of Global Outreach, one of the deepest
blessings at a General Conference comes in the opportunity to share
with people from around the world. To meet and share in
God's love with our communities from Africa, Australia, Europe, New
Zealand, Latin America the United States and Asia adds a depth and
beauty to the full vision and mission of
MCC.
Global travel is costly and full participation of
our church is a responsibility and privilege we all share. It takes
extra money and giving beyond our tithe to welcome others to share
in our global gathering. This year we are asking you and
your church to "BE A GEM!" We are asking all of us who
can to give from our treasures so more of us have the opportunity to
come to conference.
Elder Larry Rodriguez has started us off in this
"BE A GEM" campaign and has generously contributed to bring one
person to our gathering. My partner Carol Wood and I are
contributing to bring another person. Sunshine Cathedral MCC has
committed to bring three people from Jamaica! Rev. Dr. Dusty
Pruitt, who now works with United Airlines, is looking into ways for
us to receive air miles for travel. This is a great beginning
and yet we have identified 36 people who still need help
to attend this conference!
Won't you and or your church join us and "BE A
GEM?"
Attached to this letter you will find an
information sheet that displays the countries and number of people
from those areas that you could help bring to Scottsdale. Take a
minute -- right now -- to review this list and let us
know how you can "BE A GEM."
We will all be so blessed by your willingness to
share your treasure. You can go to the MCC website at www.MCCChurch.org
and look for the "BE A GEM" Campaign button at the top of the
opening page to make your contribution.
And here's another way you can
help:
We know that it is an investment for you to
participate in our Global Gathering. If you are already planning to
attend the General Conference and are not able to consider monetary
giving, we ask that you consider room sharing. Our “BE A GEM”
recipients need help with hotel accommodations as well.
By sharing your room you are offering an in kind
donation that is priceless to the recipients. Please

information.
Someday we will all look back on this opportunity
and be glad we helped Metropolitan Community churches become a
reality all over the globe. Our theme for this MCC General
Conference is "Building on Hope. Creating Our Future." --
and it's based on the scripture from Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the
assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
You can be a GEM and help MCC build on
our hope as we create our future. MCC as a faith community longs to
shine across the globe... and we can make it happen
together!
