Rev. Elder Don Eastman
Vice-Moderator

 

Rev. Elder Don Eastman serves as the Vice Moderator of the Board of Elders for Metropolitan Community Churches.  In his 20 years of full-time service as an Elder he has also served as the Second Vice Moderator and Treasurer of the denomination. He also served as Director of the UFMCC HIV/AIDS Ministry from 1987 to 1996. He was a founding board member and the first chairperson of the AIDS National Interfaith Network from 1988 to 1992.

 

Rev. Eastman is a graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and was ordained originally in the Assemblies of God in Wisconsin, where he was the Pastor of a church for six years.  He has also served as Pastor of Metropolitan Community Churches in Des Moines, Iowa and Dallas, Texas.  During his nine years as Pastor in Dallas the congregation grew to become the largest MCC in the Fellowship.

 

Rev. Eastman worked professionally for nine years in the voluntary public health field with the American Lung Association in Wisconsin and Iowa where he served first as a program director and then as an executive. He resigned as the Vice President of the American Lung Association in Iowa to accept the pastorate of MCC in Dallas.

 

As a dedicated student of church life and growth, Rev. Eastman has been one of MCC’s most passionate advocates for ministry excellence in local churches. In 1995, he created the Strategic Growth Initiative, which provided training programs, consultation services and other resources to support thousands of local leaders in building healthier churches.     

 

Upon completion of his current term as MCC’s Vice Moderator in 2007, Rev. Eastman will continue his work to support local church leaders through the new Ministry Excellence Center, a chartered ministry of the Sunshine Cathedral MCC in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in association with Metropolitan Community Churches.
