MCC and GLSEN Launch Partnership
At MCC’s recent General Conference in Calgary, we launched
MCC's bold "Unfinished World, Unfinished Calling" initiative
-- and committed to raise up a new generation of remarkable,
far-reaching spiritual activists. MCC’s partnership with GLSEN is
the perfect complement to MCC's mission and movement.
MCC will partner with GLSEN to present "Training of
Trainers" workshops in seven cities across the United States. These
important workshops educate teachers and school
administrators on the needs of LGBT students,
and help to protect LGBT pupils from anti-gay
harassment and violence.
MCC's "Unfinished World, Unfinished Calling" commitment is
moving forward on so many fronts -- HIV initiatives, church planting,
ecumenical outreach, increased resourcing, and youth ministry. MCC's new
partnership with GLSEN is yet another important way we can touch lives,
provide support for LGBT youth, live out the commitment of our Christian
faith, and fulfill our pledge to raise up a new generation of
spiritual activists who will continue to change our world.

The Launch of our Partnership
The launch event for this new partnership took place at New
York University on March 4-5, 2006.
MCC salutes the congregation of MCC New York for serving as
co-host of the New York City launch event, and express appreciation to
Rev. Pat Bumgardner for her role in establishing this
new partnership.
Rev. Bumgardner, whose congregation has long been active in
providing support and services to LGBT youth in New York City, met with
GLSEN officials during an NYC meeting addressing anti-LGBT violence.
That meeting led to a dialogue with GLSEN leaders and ultimately to this
new partnership in which MCC congregations will have an opportunity to
provide meeting space and funds and GLSEN will provide facilitators and
present workshops.
