Mattresses and Microwaves
In Effort to Support Hurricane Evacuees
Metropolitan Community Churches has launched the
Mattresses and Microwaves program in an effort to
better aide survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Through the
generosity of our community and beyond, many evacuees have been provided
shelter in the form of apartments, houses, extra bedrooms, lofts, and
much more. However, once the evacuees have relocated to their new,
temporary homes, we have received an overwhelming request for two
things: something on which to sleep and a method of cooking
meals.
To give to this program, make a
contribution marking "Disaster Relief" in the campaign
area.
NOTE: Please add "Mattresses and Microwaves"
in the comments area of our donation form!
We are asking MCC's and other communities of faith
around the world to band together and support the effort
to provide beds and microwaves to evacuees. To help you, we have
developed several tools to use in online and print advertising.
Below are the list of resources available to help in local
efforts...
