Welcome!

Welcome to MCC's Transgender Ministries (MCCTM)!  MCCTM is a ministry program of Metropolitan Community Churches with the primary purpose of serving, reaching and resourcing gender-variant, non-gender, genderqueer and transgender communities.

MCCTM began as MCC's "Transgender Resource Team" in 2005.  In 2007, we became "MCC Transgender Ministries" in order to accurately present the scope of ministry and resourcing occurring at the staff and team levels.

We welcome your feedback and look forward to serving you!

Blessings,
Angel Collie (email) & Melanie Martinez (email)
Co-Leads, MCC Transgender Ministries

Features

Our yearly resource for Transgender Day of Remembrance is here!  Utilize vigil and worship service information, media advertising fill-in flyers, an updated press release and more!

TransGlossary (Click Here)
One of our most-requested resources.  The MCC TransGlossary includes a wide range of definitions related to transgender communities.  This glossary was released in 2005 and re-released in 2007 (with edits).  As time moves forward, we continue to enhance and revise this glossary.

Workshops/Curriculum

Open Hearts, Open Doors (Click Here)
by Rev. Nancy Horvath-Zurn
A workshop designed to broaden definitions and ideas regarding transgender people of faith.  Written by Rev. Nancy Horvath-Zurn and contributed to MCCTM's resource catalog.  The workshop is intended to assist us in recognizing and breaking down barriers, so that we might reflect the truly inclusive body of Christ.

Nancy's work includes a complete Leader's Guide to enable facilitation of the workshop including detailed instructions, a detailed agenda, a glossary of terms, and a comprehensive bibliography. The workshop is available for download: OPEN HEARTS, OPEN DOORS.

MCC's first Transgender Faith Curriculum!
The MCCTM team is currently working on a full curriculum for churches and organizations seeking to learn about and serve transgender communities.  Expected to release in Summer 2010, this MCC Transgender Ministries curriculum is designed to heighten awareness and train MCC (and other) congregations to respond to and include transgender people.  Drawn from extensive theological, medical and cultural study, this curriculum will provide the opportunity for clergy, lay and transgender individuals to come together and learn how to build bridges across gaps in our inclusive outreach.  Find out more about the curriculum and current developments here!
