MCC Global Justice Center

Metropolitan Community Churches are on a bold mission to transform hearts, lives, and history...Just as Jesus did, we are called to: Do justice, show kindness, and live humbly with God. (Micah 6:8)
From MCC's Statement of Vision

Welcome to the MCC Global Justice Center, an online report of the MCC Global Justice Team.

MCC recognizes a state of need around the world in the areas of human rights and justice.  As people of faith, we have a responsibility to act on behalf of those who cannot effect change on their own.  We endeavor to build bridges that liberate and unite voices of sacred defiance.

We lead from the margins.  We transform.

Global Justice Team
MCC's Global Justice Team

We acknowledge a Social Justice situation in the world which encompasses:

  • Volatility
  • A Gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots”
  • Advances in human rights, and escalations in violence
  • Information overload
  • Globalization as a dehumanizing force; loss of culture; shifting of national boundaries
  • Violence as commonplace
  • The need to understand pluralistic concepts of religiosities
  • Escalating fundamentalism, funding much of the violence
  • Increasing need to attend to Global Warming
  • Increase in anti-Semitism and racism
  • Racism and immigration and poverty issues
  • Refugees
  • Boundaries shifting/national boundaries changing
  • Corporations dominating the economies, leading to poverty
  • HIV on the rise in many places
  • Shifting perspectives on gender and poverty and identity
  • English as pervasive and destabilizing, oppressing local cultures
  • Denial of cultural values
  • Rise of anti-American feelings
  • Terrorism
