World AIDS Day Letter from MCC HIV/AIDS Program
Team
HIV/AIDS
changes the lives of individuals, families, communities, economies, and
the world. It has taken much from
us…and it has given us things we would not have sought in this
way. We are fewer in number than we would
have been…and we are stronger, leaner, and more powerful than we
might have been. HIV/AIDS has served as a
refiner’s fire for many of us.
Through the trials of
this disease many have perished and continue to perish.
Still others live and fight the battle against stigma and
towards cure. In MCCs around the world,
congregations serve as an example of God’s loving presence in the
face of the finitude of human existence and the prejudice of human
action.
Here, MCC's spiritual calling to "Tear Down Walls - Build Up
Hope" finds full measure in action and liturgy. The MCC
World AIDS Day E-Center provides a yearly update on MCC AIDS action as
well as resource for local church action and liturgical
observance. In this place, we share what we have learned, join in
the efforts of others and work for the continual awareness, remembrance
and renewal of those who live, and have lived, with HIV/AIDS.
