General Conference 2007
Plenaries

Jesus and Justice: Not Your Ordinary Plenary!

Imagine, if you will, a living room setting, with Rev. Paul Fairley  (former General Conference Coordinator, staff clergy at MCC Toronto), as our “talk show host” leading a conversation with three very diverse Christian religious leaders:

Rev. Nancy Wilson, Moderator of Metropolitan Community Churches

Bishop Yvette Flunder, Founder of City of Refuge UCC and Refuge Ministries/Fellowship

Jay Bakker, Founder of Revolution Church
(son of Tammy Faye Messner)

There will be lively discussion on the religious scene today, on the relationship between “Jesus” and “Justice,” and time for audience questions and participation...

Not to be missed!!!

Peggy Campolo will lead a plenary on her faith journey in solidarity with our community.  She is an advisory member of the Council of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, is a highly-visible advocate for the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people within the church.  She is a member of Central Baptist Church in Wayne, Pennsylvania with her husband Tony Campolo, one of two “Welcoming and Affirming” American Baptist congregations in the Commonwealth.

Rev. Elder Hong Tan will present a plenary on his amazing work in HIV/AIDS in Europe and in China, challenging MCC about the future of our ministry, with a panel response.
