Questions/Comments?
Committee Description (Meet
the Members of the ENC)
The Elders Nominating Committee (ENC) is an ongoing committee appointed
by the Board of Elders to act as an international search committee to
seek out qualified candidates for the position of Moderator and for the
position of Regional Elder when a term of office has expired or when a
vacancy has occurred.
This committee works with the Regional Nominating Facilitating
Committee (RNFC) that is elected from each Region to facilitate the regional
consultation
and election processes. The ENC is responsible for exercising the
spiritual gift of discernment, being a part of the process for
discerning God’s will for the leadership of the denomination. With
this in mind, these guidelines will be followed in a spirit of prayer
and openness to God.
For election of an Elder, what are the respective roles of
the ENC and RNFC?
The ENC is appointed by the Board of Elders according to the
UFMCC Bylaws for the purpose of qualifying candidates for the position
of Moderator and naming a nominee for Regional Elder
elections. Each RNFC is comprised of three individuals elected by
their own Region.
The task of each RNFC is to work cooperatively with the
ENC to facilitate the regional consultation and election
processes. The ENC will issue a call for applications to the
position of Regional Elder. Prior to issuing a call for applications,
the ENC will consult with the RNFC to determine the most appropriate
method and process for consultation with the particular region.
The RNFC also will be asked to approach people they feel are qualified
and to encourage them to apply for the position of Regional Elder.
The ENC receives and reviews each application to determine if the
applicants meet the minimum requirements for nomination to the
position for Regional Elder. If the ENC is concerned that there
would appear to be an inadequate selection of qualified candidates
available for consideration in a particular Region, it may call for more
candidates for that Region and/or proactively seek out individuals with
a request to apply. It is the ENC which selects the nominee for a
Region.
Process for Electing a Regional
Elder
Regional Elders are elected. Their
nominations are brought forth through a process engaging the Elder
Nominating Committee (ENC) and Regional Nominating Facilitating
Committee (RNFC). Guidelines for nominations are set forth in the
document below:

Committee and Regional Nominating Facilitating Committees
