MCC receives notices of available surveys and studies having to do
with our communities worldwide.
Please consider participating in these projects to enhance research
which effects our MCC family!
Families and Romantic Partners of Transsexual
Individuals Share your experience of your loved one's physical
transition in a confidential, in-depth interview. Purpose: The purpose of this study will be to explore
the experience of family members and romantic partners of transsexual
individuals who have engaged gender transition in terms of surgery and
hormone treatment. For the purpose of supporting the maintenance of
family ties, it is important for mental health professionals to hear
about the experiences of the families and romantic partners of a
transsexual individual as he or she transitions. Focus: You are invited to participate in this study if
you are the family member or romantic partner of a transsexual person
who has already gone through surgical (gender/sex reassignment surgery)
and/or hormonal transition processes. Participants who are parents,
siblings, children, uncles, aunts, or grandparents of individuals who
have completed some aspect of physical transition are all welcome. No
participant may be under the age of 18, but the age of the transitioning
individual is not significant. Confidentiality: All interviews will be completely
confidential and will be completed by Leslie Guditis, PhD candidate at
Texas Women's University conducting this research. The total time
commitment is approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours, with a possible
additional ½ hour follow up interview. You may withdraw from the
study at any time, if you so choose. Participation: If you are interested in learning more
about the study and/or in participating in the study, please contact
Leslie Guditis, PhD(c) at (940)594-2370 or Lguditis1@twu.edu. You may also
contact Leslie's research advisor, Linda Brock, PhD at (940)898-2713 or

Diverse Families Project!
We are conducting this study to examine family relationships within
different 2-parent families, and to gain a better understanding of how
family relationships may be related to adolescent behavior. In order to
learn more about the experiences of family members, we are asking both
parents and their oldest adolescent child to complete a short survey. Focus:
There are only three criteria for participation:
1) There must be two adults and one adolescent child (age 12-17) in each
family.
2) Adults must be in a monogamous relationship and must have been living
together for at least 3 years.
3) Adolescents must live with participating adults at least half-time
(i.e., an average of 4 days per week). The adolescent does not have to
be biologically related to either adult. Participation:
If you are interested in participating, please follow this
link to sign up.
